TaxWise wins IRS software contract
ROME, GA — For the 11th consecutive year, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has selected TaxWise® from Universal Tax Systems (UTS) as the software used by its employees and volunteers to prepare and electronically file tax returns for low income, elderly and limited-English proficient taxpayers.
TaxWise® was selected following open competition. The 5-year contract award covers approximately 7,400 IRS-supported Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counselors for the Elderly (TCE) locations as well as IRS-operated Taxpayer Assistance Centers.

TaxWise is the only professional tax preparation program to offer popular IRS forms as well as Customer and Technical Support in both Spanish and English.
Under the new contract, UTS will provide 3-day training classes to many of the IRS volunteers and employees, including lessons on installing and running the software and preparing tax returns. UTS will continue to offer web-based training through its unique TaxWise University, an interactive online service which tests basic tax law and return preparation knowledge using the latest version of TaxWise software.
For the first time, government-sponsored users of TaxWise who have broadband Internet access will have the option of downloading the software or receiving a CD shipped to their location. Users without broadband Internet access will continue to have the software CD shipped to their location.
All of the popular features of TaxWise, such as TaxWise University, audio and visual help features, ad hoc reports and customer support, are continued in the new contract.
