What Is CompleteTax?

CompleteTax is CCH’s online tax preparation product for the ‘do-it-yourself’ consumer market. Taxpayers simply link to http://www.completetax.com/ via a graphical or text link posted on your website, enter their personal information, and follow a few easy steps that are necessary to prepare their tax return.

CompleteTax’s many features include a brief, intuitive interview questionnaire that customizes itself based on taxpayers’ responses to questions. Completed returns can be printed or electronically filed for the Federal and all state Individual tax returns. Additionally, the CompleteTax website offers taxpayers:

• A comprehensive Tax Guide containing detailed   explanations of virtually every tax issue they are likely to   encounter. Numerous examples and money-saving tips are   included.
• Financial calculators, a tax calendar, and other resources to   help them prepare and file their tax returns.

Choose Between Two Options: CompleteTax Standard or Private Label
The CompleteTax online tax affiliate program lets you choose the level of effort, personalization, and customization desired on your part. A small licensing fee is required for the ability to link to your own personalized CompleteTax.com website. You also receive access to the CompleteTax Toolkit, which allows co-branding or private labeling, as well as the ability to set preferences depending on your needs.

CompleteTax currently offers the following business models:

• CompleteTax Standard
• CompleteTax Private Label

CompleteTax Standard
If you simply want a turn-key solution requiring minimal effort or commitment, CompleteTax Standard is right for you. This model offers a simple revenue sharing agreement with CCH, allowing you to profit from returns processed through your site. Limited branding capabilities of the CompleteTax.com site include your company name and logo in designated areas of the home page, as well as additional pre-determined web pages. Your logo will also appear within the CompleteTax application in the lower right hand corner of the screen. Important Note: With the CompleteTax Standard model, you must charge users a pre-determined price to prepare and process their tax returns. The option to set different price points is not available with this model.

CompleteTax Private Label
Leverage your strong company name and brand recognition! The CompleteTax Private Label model offers more options and lets you market the online consumer tax prep application - and associated web pages - as your own. You get:

• Full branding (company name, logo and contact information)   throughout the site, including Premium CCH content pages   such as the comprehensive online Tax Guide and new State   Tax Resources.
• Elimination of the CCH and CompleteTax names to the   fullest extent possible.
• A unique domain name (vanity URL) that differentiates your   site from CompleteTax.com.
• Access to the CompleteTax Toolkit, which allows you to   manipulate key preferences and send email communications   to users.
• Customized pricing that lets you choose among several   price points to control your profit margin.
• Promotion codes to provide preferred users with free or   discounted tax preparation.
• Flexibility over the look and feel of your site with six web   color schemes to choose from.

Security

At CCH, the security of personal data is very important to us. Thorough security measures have been built into both CompleteTax and the CompleteTax Toolkit to ensure all taxpayer and company information remains confidential. Every time a user accesses CompleteTax they need to enter a unique login and password. To further guarantee that the integrity of information is never jeopardized, and to provide adequate redundancy, all data is maintained and backed-up on a regular schedule.
